When you walk into a coffee shop, you’ll often see options for both single-origin coffees and blends. But what’s the difference, and which one should you choose? In this post, I’ll explain the characteristics of single-origin coffees—where all the beans come from one region or farm—versus blends, which mix beans from different regions to create a balanced flavor. We’ll discuss the pros and cons of each, and I’ll share some of my favorite examples from local coffee roasters in the Rocklin, Roseville, and Sacramento areas.
